Andrea L. Norris - Clerk of the Barberton Municipal Court District

Andrea Norris was elected Clerk of the Barberton Municipal Court in November of 2003. The first change the public will notice in the Clerk of Courts office under Andrea Norris is a stronger emphasis on customer service. This change reflects Andrea Norris' experience in running two successful businesses before becoming Clerk of Courts.

Andrea Norris believes the Barberton Municipal Court should truly be the "People's Court" because that is where most citizens come into direct contact with the justice system. Whether a person is a juror, a crime victim, a party in a small case, or someone paying off a traffic ticket, everyone deserves a hard working, professional and fair system of justice.

Utilizing nineteen years experience as a practicing attorney, Andrea Norris will make the Clerk of Court's office a full partner in the local justice system. Soon, the Clerk of Courts computer system will be integrated with other Summit County courts, police agencies, prosecutors, and the Summit County jail. Already, this web site offers access to the court's docket 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Andrea Norris is also implementing an aggressive tracking and collection program to help crime victims obtain their court ordered restitution. By clearing up delinquent fines, fees, and court costs, Andrea Norris will put money where it belongs - in your communities. Collecting delinquent fees will also improve the financial condition of our court.

Andrea Norris, who lives in Franklin Township with her husband Richard Lowry, is a graduate of Coventry High School. She earned her bachelor's degree from Kent State University and her law degree from the University of Akron.

A legal professional since 1985, Andrea Norris has practiced law in Municipal Court, Common Pleas Court, Juvenile Court, Domestic Relations Court and the 5th, 8th, and 9th District Ohio Courts of Appeals.

Andrea Norris was previously elected county wide to two (2) four-year terms on Summit County Council. During Norris' eight years on council, the county's financial outlook improved dramatically due, in part, to her introduction of sound business practices. Andrea Norris also earned the reputation in county government of being tough but fair-minded concerning important issues and for not allowing partisan politics to impact decisions important to taxpayers.

As a result of having practiced law for 19 years in courts throughout the region, Andrea Norris knows what sets one court apart from another. As Clerk of Courts she wil not be satisfied until the Barberton Municipal Court is recognized as the standard bearer for professionalism and fairness.
