Engineering Department - Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Where is my sewer lateral located?
ANSWER: There are only records indicating where the sewer lateral
comes from the main sewer to the right of way. There are no records
indicating where the laterals are located on the property.
Q. Is there any uncertified assessments for this address?
ANSWER: Several lots have uncertified assessments. Contact the Engineering
Department with the address and lot number of the property.
Q. Do I need a permit?
ANSWER: If the work being done is in the right of way, a permit
is necessary. Permits consist of open pavement/right of way, sanitary
sewer construction/repair, storm sewer construction/repair, concrete
sidewalk/approach/curb, and special tap-in fees.
Q. Do you provide surveying services or locating your property pins?
ANSWER: No, you must hire your own private surveyor.
Q. Does the City of Barberton have assistance for sidewalk replacement?
ANSWER: Yes. This year (2005), the City of Barberton has received a grant from the Barberton Community Foundation in the amount of $50,000 for our Sidewalk Program. The City will also be investing an additional $50,000 to assist property owners of one- and two-family dwellings in the replacement of defective sidewalk. The property owners will be assessed 60% and the City will pay the remaining 40% of the cost.
Applications to participate in the program may be obtained at the City of Barberton Engineering Department, 576 W Park Ave, Barberton OH 44203.
