Barberton, at 8.6 square miles, offers businesses and residents extensive services and facilities. The city employs 44 full-time firefighters and 42 full-time police officers, approximately two (2) firefighters/police officers for every 300 people, which exceeds the national standard. The Barberton Fire Department also provides EMS assistance.

The Barberton Wolf Creek Reservoir has an 800 million gallon capacity. It has an estimated safe sustained yield of 8.5 million gallons per day (mgd.) and a treatment capacity of 12 mgd. The waste water treatment plant has a 15 mgd. capacity.

Barberton Citizens Hospital has 347 beds. Additionally, there are four Akron hospitals, including one children's hospital totaling 1,693 beds. Doctors and dentists, serving the area, provide a full range of services and specialties to Barberton residents.
