Parks Seasonal Employment Opportunity: Must be 18 years old

Position:  Seasonal

Pay: $8.80 - $13.00 – Pay rate will be determined based on job title and experience

 

Description

Time Frame: May- September 2021

Work Schedule:  Estimated 25-30 hours per week. Seasonal workers may seek up to 40 hours week pending department needs. Some evenings and weekends may be required.

 

The Seasonal Parks Employee will assist in the planning, implementation and execution of recreational programs in The Barberton Parks and Recreation Department. Seasonal employees will work with programs including Youth programs, Summer Concert Series, Sports Complex, and Special Events. Employees will be expected to attend trainings associated with their job responsibilities, which may include paid travel.  

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the execution and implementation of youth programs
  • Assist with fundraisers and special events
  • Assist with youth and adult sports 
  • Perform administrative duties associated with the Barberton Parks front office and senior center 

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with youth, paid or volunteer
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Able to work a flexible schedule which may include evenings/weekends
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Clear Background Check
  • May be required to lift and move equipment up to 30 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Experience or interest in boating/watercraft activities
  • Management or supervisor experience

Firefighter/Paramedic Civil Service Entrance Examination: June 7, 2021 - July 12, 2021

The City of Barberton is offering a Firefighter/Paramedic Examination through National Testing Network (NTN). All applicants must complete the FireTEAM through NTN and Firefighter Physical Agility by July 12, 2021.

To register with NTN and schedule a test, go to https://www.nationaltestingnetwork.com/publicsafetyjobs/ and complete the following steps: 

  1. Select ‘Find Jobs’
  2. Select  Firefighter Jobs
  3. Sign up for Barberton Fire Department

When you visit the National Testing Network website: 

  • Complete the NTN registration process and schedule your test.
  • Review all information related to the Firefighter/Paramedic position, including minimum requirements, salary, and benefits.
  • Review detailed information about the testing process.
  • Review the Frequently Asked Questions and take an online practice test (if desired).
  • Upload all required documents:
    1. Employment Application
    2. FCRA Disclosure and Authorization Form
    3. Physical Agility Certificate from NTN Physical Ability, Cuyahoga Community College or Stark State College
    4. Copy of Driver's License

Upon completion of your scheduled exam, scores are automatically forwarded to the City of Barberton. Candidates who attain a passing score of 70% on the entry level exam and upload all required documents will be notified of the date, time and location of the Aerial Ladder Climb Test. Once the eligibility list is certified by the Civil Service Commission, your final test score including extra credit will be mailed. Candidates that are being considered from Certified Eligible List will be invited to participate in further stages of the selection process. 

National Testing Network is a service provided to conduct entry level testing in a standardized, professional environment. National Testing Network does not replace the City of Barberton's responsibility and decision making in the testing process.  All candidate results are provided to the City of Barberton where the final decisions are made.
