The Barberton Parks and Recreation Department officially opened the Limitless Playground at McCafferty Park, the most inclusive ADA accessible park within miles of Barberton, Ohio. This playground is specifically designed to promote inclusion while providing challenges and excitement for all ability levels. McCafferty Park is located at 299 25th Street SW. Barberton, Ohio.
The Limitless Playground will create the opportunity for hundreds of children with special needs in Barberton and surrounding areas to engage in play with their peers without limitations, and develop skills to improve their daily lives. The playground will also serve hundreds of children at McCafferty Park associated with youth teams who use the park as their home field, and neighborhood children who do not currently have access to play equipment.
Park Features
- ADA compliant, 6’ wide concrete walkway from the parking lot to the playground
- 4,480 Sq Ft. of poured in place rubber surfacing
- Wheelchair ramps and accessible transfer platforms
- Several ground level interactive and sensory panels – stimulate logical reasoning and strategy, provides a range of sensory opportunities to improve gross and fine motor skills
- Spinning pieces, ADA swing seats and roller slide- encourage sensory and motor stimulation and to allow children to improve body control, coordination, and movement awareness
- Isolation piece- an early stage motor development piece also assists children who become over stimulated.
- Contrasting colors and high visibility to accommodate individuals who are visually or hearing impaired
- Endless entrances and exits for accessibility
- Fence barrier to be installed between playground and parking lot
- Shaded benches and ADA picnic tables
