Please note: These updates are provided solely to inform Barberton residents about the ongoing fiber optic installation throughout our city. The City of Barberton has no affiliation with Omni Fiber.
- Utility Identification: Underground utilities will be located and marked using flags and/or lawn-safe paint.
- Aerial Construction: In areas with above-ground utilities, fiber optic cables will be attached to existing electric or telephone poles.
- Buried Construction: In areas with underground utilities, crews will begin digging and boring to install fiber infrastructure.
- Conduit and Fiber Distribution: Conduit will be fed into the ground, followed by the placement of fiber optic cables. Both materials will be distributed using large reels.
- Fiber Vaults: Underground boxes known as fiber vaults will be installed to serve as technician access points to the buried fiber network.
- Lawn Restoration: After construction is complete, crews will restore affected areas by raking, seeding and applying straw where digging occurred.
