The City of Barberton Announces Fixed Rate for Natural Gas Aggregation Program

City of Barberton, Ohio (September 2021-2025)

Barberton City officials would like to announce they have once again chosen Constellation (Constellation New Energy – Gas Division, LLC) as the supplier for the City’s Natural Gas Aggregation Program. The new program will run through the November 2025 bill cycle. A rate of $3.31 per Mcf has been set for gas consumed for the December 2021 through November 2025 bill cycles. Residents and small commercial customers can expect a letter from Constellation to arrive on or about October 5th. The letter will explain the rate, terms and conditions of the offer.

Mayor Bill Judge said, “We are pleased to have been able to secure this low rate for our residents and businesses. The fixed-rate is currently lower than the alternative rate from the local utility, and it will give them price protection and budget stability as we move into the winter months. And, as before, our program has no early termination fee.”

Letters from Constellation

Andrew Burns, Govt. Agg Manager of Independent Energy Consultants, said, “Residents and businesses should carefully read their letter from Constellation.” Burns added, Residents who are currently in the program will receive an opt-out letter letter and will not need to take any action to remain in the program. Anyone who has not chosen a supplier and receives their gas supply from Dominion Energy Ohio will also receive an “opt-out” letter. If they wish to be added to the program they should simply do nothing and they will automatically receive the new rate.”

Residents Not Currently Participating

Any resident or small business that is not participating in the aggregation program and is currently served by another supplier may obtain the same low rate by calling Constellation at 1-844-467-4294, or by visiting a dedicated website www.constellation.com/oh-barberton. Residents served by other suppliers are encouraged to review the terms and conditions of their current supplier agreement before enrolling. New customers to the program must be in good standing and cannot be part of the utility’s Percentage of Income Payment Program (PIPP).

City of Barberton, Ohio (March 2, 2021-2025)

Barberton officials are pleased to announce that they have selected Energy Harbor to serve the next term of the City’s electric aggregation program. The City has set a fixed rate of 4.97 cents/kWh for electricity generation for a 4-year term starting with May 2021 meter reads. Residents and small businesses should look for a mailer to arrive on or about March 5, 2021 concerning the new electric aggregation program offer from Energy Harbor.

The mailer will explain the low offer the City negotiated and the means to opt-out should a customer not want to participate in the program. Residents will have 21 days to return an opt-out form to Energy Harbor, if they decide not to participate.

Mayor William Judge, said, “We are delighted by the low fixed-rate of 4.97 cents/kWh for Barberton residents and businesses. Andrew Burns, Govt. aggregation Manager of Independent Energy Consultants, added that residents who have already chosen a supplier will not receive a letter, and by law, are not eligible to be automatically included in the aggregation program. Anyone in this situation wishing to join the City’s program should contact Energy Harbor at 866-636-3749 to enroll. Before doing so, you should read your current contract as many have early termination fees if you leave before the end of your agreement.
