The History of Mum Festival

Barberton Mum Festival got its start in 1991 when 15,000 chrysanthemum cuttings were donated by Yoder Brothers, Inc. (now Aris Horticulture, Inc.) and planted along the eastern side of Lake Anna Park in anticipation of Barberton’s centennial celebration. Mums were chosen to honor the City’s official flower. Over 30 years later, this annual celebration has blossomed into a flower extravaganza attended by over 50,000 and made possible by public and private support.
