Barberton's History
Founded by industrialist entrepreneur O.C. Barber In 1891, Barberton was located along railroad lines, the Tuscarawas River and the Ohio Canal. It grew into a robust manufacturing town so quickly that it earned the “Magic City” nickname that remains to this day. Our history is built upon a legacy of business, manufacturing, renowned architecture, revolutionary agricultural practices and community pride. That same spirit of hard work, community and entrepreneurial spirit thrives today.

Where: Active Adult Center – 500 W. Hopocan Avenue

Time: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
This is an opportunity for residents to ask questions or express concerns one-on-one with Mayor William Judge. No appointment is necessary.
In addition, applications for the City of Barberton Residential Services Relief Program will be available during Open Office Hours.

It’s Giving Tuesday in Barberton!
Today, the first round of donations from our Holiday Non‑Perishable Collection Drive were picked up from the Lake Anna YMCA and delivered to The Barberton Salvation Army. This generous outpouring of support is a powerful reminder of the kindness, compassion, and community spirit that makes Barberton so strong.

Drive, Drop, & Give Back this Giving Tuesday
On December 2, 2025, the City of Barberton and The Barberton Salvation Army invite you to a drive‑up donation event. From the comfort of your car, drop off monetary or non‑perishable food donations and help kick off the Red Kettle Campaign.
Location: Salvation Army Parking Lot: 560 Wooster Rd West, Barberton, Ohio 44203
Morning Rush: 7:00–9:00 AM
Afternoon Drive: 3:00–5:30 PM
Donations are welcome anytime throughout the day, but we’re especially encouraging our community to rally together during the Morning Rush and Afternoon Drive times.
Let’s come together to support our neighbors in need and make this Giving Tuesday one to remember.
