The Ward Yard Competition sign‑up, organized by community members, is now live! The competition will run through August 8, with ward winners announced on August 9. Each winner will receive a certificate and a $135 prize. This event is a fun way to help beautify Barberton and show pride in your neighborhood.

As our Barberton Facts series continues, we’re highlighting a moment tied to the early growth of Barberton and its surrounding region. On March 19, 1891, O.C. Barber, Charles Baird, William McFarlin, Tom Cornell, and J.K. Robinson filed articles of incorporation to construct a railroad in Summit County. By 1892, the Akron–Barberton Belt Railroad was completed. It quickly became a success and expanded to haul clay from the mines south of Barberton, carrying it north all the way to Fairlawn.

⛈️ Weather Update: It looks like Mother Nature is crashing the Purple Paw Party today with predicted lightning, thunder, and heavy winds. To keep all our two-legged and four-legged friends safe, today's event is cancelled.

We have loved the incredible growth and energy surrounding the Purple Paw Party, and we want to keep that momentum going! To do that, we are merging this event with our upcoming Halloween event to create an epic pet celebration: Haunted Hound Hangout: Rise of the Purple Paw Party! 🐾👻
