Barberton History: Al’s Quality Meats

From 1909 until the Magic City Shopping Center opened and they moved, Acme maintained a store on Tuscarawas Avenue. In 1917, they moved into a new building on Tuscarawas Avenue between the Pastime and Park Theaters. After World War II, a long-time Barbertonian named Al Pramuka managed the meat market for Acme. When the new Acme store opened in the Magic City Shopping Center in the 1950s, Al bought the old Acme and opened Al’s Quality Meats! Of course, Al’s has moved to 2nd street – but they still serve up some of the best sausages in town!
