Why is the 2026 Parade Route Different From Last Year?

As the City of Barberton prepares for the annual Barberton Labor Day Parade on Monday, September 7th, the procession was announced to officially return to its original, historic route.

With the recent completion of the downtown construction projects, city leadership and multiple municipal departments have conducted a thorough review of our event logistics. After this review, we are returning to our traditional 2023 route, which provides the safest possible environment for everyone involved.

Safety First: Why the Original Route is the Safest Route

Following extensive reviews and consultations with our Police, Fire, Street, Parks & Recreation and Safety departments, city leadership has made the unified decision to shift the route. It was determined that this historic route provides a highly secure environment for both participants and spectators. Unlike the alternate route used during the construction phase (2024-2025), this original route eliminates the need to barricade and monitor numerous downtown alleyways.

By removing these blind spots and access points, we can vastly improve crowd control, maximize pedestrian safety, and ensure completely unobstructed access for emergency vehicles.

Are the Concert, Fireworks and Parade Free to Attend?

for Spectators: Yes! Watching the concert, fireworks, and parade are completely free and open to the public!

For Participants & Supports: While the attending the concert is free, we do collect donations during the concert to help support the summer concert series. Additionally, if you are a group participating in the parade there is a application fee due upon submission of your application.

Where Should I Park

Concert, Fireworks & Parade: Public parking areas.

Parade no spectator parking areas:

To accommodate the return to the original route and ensure a smooth lineup process, there will be no parking available for parade spectators in the BCF Sports Complex or on 14th Street NW.

These areas, along with several adjacent streets, are strictly designated as official staging zones for parade participants. The complete list of restricted staging areas includes:

  • BCF Sports Complex
  • 14th Street NW
  • 15th Street NW
  • 16th Street NW
  • 16th Street SW
  • 17th Street NW
  • 18th Street SW
  • 19th Street NW
