Overview

The Charter of the City of Barberton, Ohio establishes a three member Civil Service Commission, which is appointed by the Mayor with confirmation by majority of City Council.

Responsibilities

The Civil Service Commission is responsible for:

Prescribing, amending and enforcing rules for positions within the Classified Service.

Classified Employees may transition within the Classified Service by one or more of the following methods:

• Appointment
• Promotion
• Removal
• Transfer
• Layoff
• Suspension
• Reduction
• Reinstatement
