Parks & Recreation Director
The City of Barberton is now accepting resumes for a Parks & Recreation Director. This position is an exempt, unclassified position appointed by the Parks & Recreation Commission.
Salary Range: $69,532.81 – $99,981.28
The City is seeking a qualified Parks Director to lead the planning, development, and administration of parks and recreation programs and facilities. This position oversees staff and volunteers, manages daily operations, and works with the Commission to recommend and implement policies, programs, and projects. Responsibilities include supervising personnel, developing department procedures, preparing and managing the annual budget, monitoring expenditures, and overseeing program and facility planning, maintenance, and promotion. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of management practices, municipal government operations, parks and recreation administration, budgeting, and public relations, along with the ability to communicate effectively, analyze data, maintain accurate records, and build strong working relationships with staff, officials, and the public.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Park and Recreation Administration, Recreation Administration, or Park Management, and certification as a Park and Recreation Professional by the National Recreation and Park Association. Minimum of five years’ experience working in a park and recreation field in a professional capacity preferred.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook). Must possess and maintain a valid Ohio Driver’s License and must be insurable under the City’s insurance policy.

Safety Director, Part-Time
The City of Barberton is accepting resumes for the position of Part-time Safety Director. This unclassified position reports directly to the Mayor. The Safety Director directs and oversees all police, fire and safety departments, communicates and advises service department on public safety applications. Wage rate: $35.65 per hour.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in management, public administration or related discipline, plus five (5) years’ experience operating, managing and administering public safety personnel, or equivalent. Candidate must possess and maintain a valid State of Ohio Driver’s License and remain insurable under the City’s vehicle insurance policy.

Engineer
The City of Barberton is now accepting resumes for the position of Engineer. This classified position reports directly to the Director of Public Service. This is a responsible technical and administrative position consisting of directing the activities of the Engineering Division of the Department of Public Service, the development and supervision of public works projects and supervision of all operations and activities of the City Engineer’s office.
The ideal candidate shall have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering plus considerable experience in the practice of civil engineering, including experience in municipal engineering. Knowledge of principles and practices of civil engineering and surveying as applied to the development, construction and maintenance of Engineering projects; the public work interrelationships of subdivisions, utilities and street systems, storm water; the principles and practices of public works administration.
2026 Pay Range: $74,886.94 – $114,395.57

Parks and Recreation Seasonal Employment
Starting wage $14.00 – $16.00 per hour
The Parks & Recreation Seasonal will play a dual-impact role within the Barberton Parks and Recreation Department. This position is responsible for the hands-on execution of high-profile community events and administrative record organization to assist the department in its 2028 relocation to the new municipal building.
This is a variable-hour, event-driven position. This position will comply with municipal budget and scheduling policies. Weekly hours fluctuate based on the municipal event calendar, typically ranging from 5 to 25+ hours per week.
