Annual Action Plan (AAP)
The Consolidated Plan is carried out through Annual Action Plans (AAP), which provide a concise summary of the actions, activities, and the specific federal and non-federal resources that will be used each year to address the priority needs and specific goals identified by the Consolidated Plan (CP). The FY 2026 Annual Action Plan represents the second year of the FY 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan for the City of Barberton. The FY 2026 allocation is $669,388 plus anticipated program income.
*The Department of Planning and Community Development has initiated a public comment period and will hold public hearings for the Fiscal Year 2026 Annual Action Plan (AAP). A draft version of the 2026 Annual Action Plan will be available for public review and comments from Tuesday, June 16, 2026 through Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 4pm. A copy of the AAP will be available at the Barberton Public Library and at the Department of Planning & Community Development, located at 576 W. Park Ave., Barberton. Draft_2026 CDBG Annual Action Plan
Those wishing to attend or speak at the public hearings may attend on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at 5:30pm and/or Monday, June 22, 2026 at 6:00pm in Council Chambers, located at 576 W. Park Ave., 2nd floor, Barberton. Any individual, group, or agency wishing to provide input on the 2026 Annual Action Plan may submit comments to the City of Barberton’s Department of Planning and Community Development or via email at MShifferly@cityofbarberton.com.
Consolidated Plan (CP)
The Consolidated Plan (CP) is designed to help the City of Barberton assess affordable housing and community development needs and market conditions, and to make data-driven, place-based investment decisions. The consolidated planning process serves as the framework for a community-wide dialogue to identify housing and community development priorities that align and focus funding from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). The Department of Planning & Community Development (DPCD) prepares the Consolidated Plan (CP) every 3-5 years, with the most current plan being for fiscal years 2025-2029 (report preparation currently in progress). Residents are encouraged to provide written feedback during the 30-day public comment period from June 26, 2025 to July 26, 2025. Comments may be submitted to the Department of Planning & Community Development at 576 W. Park Ave., Barberton in-person, via email at MShifferly@cityofbarberton.com, or at one of the following public hearings listed below. All residents are encouraged to attend and provide feedback.
